How to: 3 quick and easy hair styles

Helloo everyone how are you all. Recently I have been feeling really uninspired and a bit bored with just having the same basic pony tale hair style for work, so I decided to switch it a little bit up and received lots of compliments. In all honesty if it's not quick or easy to do, i'm not very likely to bother doing anything with me hair, but this only takes a couple of minutes and adds just that little something to your everyday look.

Hopefully you enjoy it and let me know what you think!!

Uni and anxiety

Today I thought I'd write something a bit more serious. Something that I find quite difficult to talk about. That something is Anxiety, however more specifically to do with study.

Anxiety is something everyone experiences at least once in their lives. However some unlucky people like me suffer from it quite severely. For me Anxiety isn't just something that will just go away, it will always be there. However I learn to cope with it in different ways. Everyone experiences anxiety in a deferent way, and different situations or things trigger it for different people.

I've had anxiety quite severely throughout high school, going many sleepless nights having episodes of panic attacks and feeling extremely overwhelmed. Moving to Australia has never been easy for me, learn a completely new language at age eleven through the use of picture books. That way I could learn how to spell and putting a name to a face so to speak. At this point everything just seemed a blur. I had to learn everything as quickly as possible within a year what every other normal kid would've learned and picked up in their 5 years of school, before I started high school. I think thats where I put the most pressure on myself and making friends wasn't so easy. My social skills weren't great, because I couldn't form proper coherent long sentences together, however my writing did progress.

Instead of talking to the few friends I made, I would tend to listen to them instead. Trying to work out what they were saying and keeping up with conversation, Because of that I really struggled to fit in. All my friends were loud and outgoing while I would usually sit listening to what they would have to say, because I could never quite put into words what I really wanted to express. Ten years on and i've still remained quite timid. Enjoying listening to others peoples conversations. Don't get me wrong I do like to talk, i'm just not very good at conversation.

Anyway back the point, when I finished high school. I knew that university wasn't a pathway I wanted to go. I didn't want to put so much stress and anxiety on myself again. Instead I decided to go traveling. Go back to Holland and visit my old friends and family that i hadn't seen for 7 years and explore parts of Europe I hadn't been too before. I knew my anxiety would stop me from going to places if I would go and do it alone, so thankfully one of my friends I made was just as keen on a gap year herself. (Maybe if anyone is interested I might write a blog post about Travel Anxiety). Thankfully she put up with my stressful self and we had an amazing time traveling around.

It wasn't until after I had come back from my travels, that I really started to feel unsure of myself and what I wanted to do. I previously had jobs in hospitality and office work and I knew that wasn't really the path I wanted to take. The battle between studying further was a definite struggle, but I knew If i wanted to go somewhere in my life I needed to do some form of study.

So that's where it takes us now in the present. I've got a certificate IV in photography in my pocket and I've almost made it through my entire first year of my Bachelor. It's been quite a journey, i'm not going to lie and there have been many times I wanted to throw in the towel. Instead i'm keeping my head held high. Most of my year has been spent struggling to get through my assignments and tough units, trying to avoid course work because my heart accelerate looking or even thinking about a particular assignment or course. Usually my mind goes all foggy and I can't concentrate. I honestly can't possibly try to explain to you how I managed to get this far. Even though there have been multiple times I told myself I would and change courses, but i'm still here. I might struggle through the next couple of years, but I also know that I can't let my fears stop me from living and achieving things in life.

I think the most important aspect of it all is to remember that it's ok to ask for help from othera around you. Don't look at what the other students achieving around you. Instead set a goal of what you think is achievable for yourself. When you start feeling very uncomfortable in your skin, go and do something that will take your mind off of it ( at this part it becomes hard, because there have been multiple times that I have struggled to stay calm without instantly feeling very jumpy and anxious with adrenaline when even thinking about the assessment, knowing that I have to get back to it). Take your time, it might take longer than most people to completely a certain task or assessment, but allow yourself the time so that when you know you can't look at it today, you have enough time to complete whatever it is you need to do another time. Take one step at a time so that you can hand it in before the due date.
The most important thing I need to remind myself is that Anxiety isn't me. Even though anxiety feels like it does control me, I am not anxiety. I am somebody just like you, who suffers from anxiety.

I hope this was helpful for some of you. Just know that you are not alone. I'm only a message away.

Until next time,

Nicole xx

Inspiration

Since moving into this house 8 years ago my room has stayed similar yet, at the same time has slowly grown with me also. So these past couple of weeks i've been out and about when I can picking up little things to slowly change my decor in my room. I might make a separate blog post on the things I've picked up, but for now I thought i'd share a few things that inspire me. Maybe you guys can share some room and decor ideas with me? let me know.

Winter happy

Today is one of those typical gloomy winter days. The skies are filled with grey clouds, while bucketing down millimetres upon millimetres of rain drops hydrating the soil. While our water dams are being filled up with some much needed water, for the months to come. So I thought i'd show you a little inspiration (or mood board if you like) images of things that make me happy during the winter.
What are some of your favourite items/things to do in winter?

Summer essentials

Usually i'm not much of a summer girl and prefer autumn and spring over summer any day. Actually scratch that I love summer and the feeling it brings with the sun kissing my skin, scattering a million freckles on my face. Warm summer nights sitting outside having a barbecue or going for a late night swim. However it's when the weather decides to be over 35 degrees that i start questioning my love of summer. When all you want is to sit inside with the air con on the coolest setting after having just come from outside drenched in sweat (Maybe a bit TMI).

Anyway lets move on from that. I thought today I would share with you in the above pictures my favourite trusty summer items. Now that it's hit the brim of summer and autumn is slowly approaching I thought it was the perfect time to share with you all what has got me through summer so far.

In my beloved summer hand bag(s) I will most likely be carrying invisible zinc. Now my skin is really fair and when the sun has been warming up the beautiful weather its also warming my skin into a wonderful shade of shrimp or even close towards the colour of a tomato. Yep, so to keep my skin protected I love to use the Invisible Zinc sun screen. There are no nasty chemicals that must sun screens have and it even helps your skin tan just that little bit. Now invisible zinc can be a little on the pricy side, but trust me your skin will thank you for it.

To keep fresh and smelling like a daisy, one of my all time favourite perfume brands is Marc Jacobs Daisy (See what I did there). At the moment I am completely in love of the Daisy Dream scent. It's has a clean fresh scent with some sweet undertones that can be perfect to wear all year around. People are constantly asking me what kind of perfume I use because they love the scent (bonus).

Staying on the smelling fresh side. The deodorant I love to use and works the best for me would have to be Dove Original or invisible. Either is fine, it keeps the nasty bio smell away especially while sweating a bucket full during summer and it gives you the confidence the rest of the day to know you are smelling fresh.

My trusty Ray Ban sunglasses might be one of my all-time favourite gift given to me. Unfortunately they were limited edition, but on the inside of the glasses they have little doodles of London. Yep who doesn't love London?

Last but least which isn't a hand bag essential, but have brought me a lot of joy through out summer so far are my Birkenstock Arizona sandals. A lot of people have been raving about them and I thought I would pop into a store to see what all the fuss was about for myself. When I walked into the store I saw these dark brown sandals with rose gold metal clips. Naturally that was the pair of shoes i wanted to try on. Never have my feet felt so comfortable before. the sole is so comfortable and supportive its like little cushions for your feet. Honestly, they are a little on the expensive side, but if you have a little money set aside for a good pair of shoes these are definitely the ones to buy, especially as they will last you a pretty good amount of time.

I hope you enjoyed reading my post,
until next time!!

Happy 2015!

Happy 2015 to all! At first I was a bit apprehensive about writing a 2015 post. Thinking it was a little cliche as every other blogger has most likely posted one of these. Nevertheless I am seated here in front of my laptop being sucked into writing one of these posts (Because you know, I secretly like writing these posts).

Making new years goals and aims for the next coming 365 days is probably one of these most logical things to do. Now don't get me wrong I would probably be one of those people too. However somewhere i've read or seen something that someone said and it kind of got me thinking that, that isn't actually such a bad idea. So instead of making goals and aims for the year, make weekly goals. Make a goal each week and by lets say Sunday you aim to have achieved it by that day.

So today be it Sunday my aim for the week is to drink at least 2 litres of water.
Try and do some exercise every other day.
Enjoy the sunshine outside now that its summer.

Also to be a little more traditional I've set myself some goals i'd like to achieve within this year also.
1. Try not to over think things.
2. Try my hardest not to procrastinate. (Lets face it everyone does it from time to time.)
3. Don't feel to overwhelmed and remind myself to take it one step at a time.
4. Finish my first year of studies (and not to change my mind about the course again)
5. Just say yes, I often tend to miss opportunities because i'm to scared or I over think scenarios. Which probably leads to procrastinating, to begin with. Leaving a certain thing to the last minute because your to scared to face with disappointment, which isn't always the answer.

Just remember to make your goals for the year achievable. If you know that it's something that is to challenging or unreasonable don't set yourself up for disappointment. The more reasonable goals, the more goals you can achieve. Which in my mind usually makes me feel a lot more better in myself as well.

What are some of your goals for this coming year. I hope that everyone has a terrific, safe and happy 2015 with lots of adventurous and new experiences! :)

Daniel Wellington

I have been eyeing this watch for a while now. Seeing them frequently appear on lots of fashion bloggers wrists and hyping about them. For a while I was perfectly content with my little ol' Urban  Outfitters watch. While I still really love my globe Urban Outfitters watch. I just wanted something a little more fancy. Something that can be worn more than just as an everyday type of watch.

A couple of weeks ago I spotted the Daniel Wellington watch at a jewellery shop at the beach. Of course I had to try it on just to see what it was like and instantly fell in love. The beautiful rose gold finish and lovely thick bands is what got me. It's simplistic yet elegant. A watch I have been scouring the city for a while.

I pretty much went home, browsed the web and looked at more reviews from different bloggers about the watch "it can't hurt to do a little research". I found nothing but lovely reviews on was instantly sold. It didn't take me much convincing from there, before I jumped on the Daniel Wellington website and ordered my watch.

With it being so close to christmas I wasn't positive my watch would arrive on time. However I was stunned to get my watch within a week of ordering. Opening the package I was absolutely over the moon. It came in a beautiful black box. With a white leather detailed band down the middle with Daniel Wellington pressed into the fabric. A perfect storage box to keep it in safely while not wearing it. The Leather straps "or bands" are made of really nice sturdy leather, i'm sure it won't break anytime soon. My only mistake with having bought the watch online, was that I accidentally bought the watch mm size to big. However while some might not agree. I find it a little quirky and different. Appearing as a statement piece/ watch to add a little bit of quirk and elegance to my style. The watch I picked up from the range is the classic bristol (which now i realised I bought from the mens range which is why the clock itself is to big). So if you are after the slightly smaller more feminine size I'll put the link here for you to go on :)

So if you are browsing to add to your watch collection, and are looking for something thats simplistic yet elegant. I'd definitely take a peek at these beautiful range of watches Daniel Wellington has to offer. "If not for the watch then definitely for the box ;)"

So thank you Daniel Wellington for the beautiful watch and quick delivery!

What are some of your favourite watch brands??

Festive make up

With Christmas and New Years approaching I thought it was the perfect time to treat myself to some new lipsticks to broaden my collection for when the next couple of weeks during the festive season. I couldn't help myself and had to pop into Mecca and Kit Cosmetic store.

To try something different and to be a little more daring I thought i'd pick up a deeper colour. This specific deep wine coloured lipstick from Kit ( called Go deeper) is just the colour that I was looking It didn't doesn't wash me out or is to bright for my fair skin colour. It's a deep rich sheer colour that is quite hydrating and it has a long lasting formula. This specific deep mulled wine like lip colour is perfect for people that have fair skin and hair and want to try something a little more daring. I know choosing bright lipstick doesn't always suit blonde haired people. I definitely think that this lipstick will be my new go to lip colour for going out!

For a while now I've been looking for an everyday lip colour that wasn't to pink or orangey and that is also moisturising not leaving that cracked lipstick look behind. Finally I found the shade that I had been looking for, for some time now. The Smashbox Melondrama lipstick is the perfect everyday coral like lipstick (at least for me) and I did feel like doing a little mini dance in the shop when I saw it. I'm not entirely sure yet if its hydrating enough, but it definitely is really pigmented making it quite long lasting, I maybe had to apply it once more during the day.

The Kit lipstick (Go deeper) retails at $24.95
The Smashbox lipstick (Melon Drama)  retails at $26

I hope you enjoyed this post, let me know what your favourite lip colours are!

Summer feeling.

Previously I wrote a post about sunflowers and bringing summer into your home. Now that you can feel the weather definitely heating up and it's time to bring out the summer dresses and shorts, I thought I'd write another summer appreciation post. Previously I've never really been much of a summer person, much rather preferring autumn. However lately I've pinpointed out all the things I do love during summer, and maybe, maybe I've just convinced myself that (besides the overbearing heat that I'm not a big fan of) I might actually be a summer person.

Nothing beats watermelon to hydrate and cool you down during summer time. The delicious sweet fruit not only consisting on mostly water, but is really filling also.

Cherries are also a delicious sweet fruity treat during summer time. Along with watermelon, and grapes, cherries would have to be one of my favourite summer fruits. It's great in summery fresh salads  and tastes great along with feta cheese.

Another thing I absolutely love to eat during summer time, is corn on the cob. grill it on the barbecue and add some salt on it, makes the perfect quick snack!

Lastly there is of course ice cream, be it yoghurt ice cream, gelato, or ice lollies. The perfect yummy treat to cool down in the heat, my favourite being lemon gelato mmmm!

What are some of your favourite summer delights?

Clear skin

For the past two years I have been really struggling to get clear skin. Either I would get an outbreak on my forehead full of inflamed tiny little pimples along with the pimples on either side of my chin. Nothing is worse than not feeling confident and positive in your own skin.

I've been using all kinds of different scrubs, skin washes, toners. Nothing seemed to work. Some products even made my skin worse than before!

So for the past month and a half I've finally seemed to have found the gold on the other end of the rainbow (ok, thats a little to dramatic). I'm a big believer in using natural skin products, especially after having used so many products that have consistently failed, or even made my skin worse.
There aren't any nasty chemical skin strippers or hidden nasties in these products. I have genuinely felt a big difference in the texture and feel of my skin also. It's much softer and less oily.
The tea tree range from The Body shop has definitely been a big life saver for me. My skin is still not entirely clear, but I have seen a difference the redness has significantly decreased and unlike all the other products I've used it hasn't left me with overly dry/oily skin.

To hydrate my skin i've loved using the Swisse Rose Hip moisturiser. With a lot of moisturisers i've found that my skin can be extremely sensitive and cause a reaction to it. When applying the Rose hip moisturiser I only have to apply it once in the morning and it leaves my skin feeling nice and soft for the rest of the day.

I hope you found this little post helpful. Being natural skin products I feel that they range in very affordable prices and your skin will love you for it also.

Banana Pancakes

Eating my usual yoghurt and granola with berries for breakfast can get a little boring and repetitive sometimes. Having Coeliac disease can be a little challenging sometimes with trying out new things. Usually sticking to the same thing is the easiest option. Today however I wanted to share with you a quick and delicious easy to make and 100% gluten free! It's nourishing and completely guilt free consisting of only eggs, (rich in the much needed vitamins K,D,E, B6, calcium and Zinc. Which helps with gaining a healthy body and skin.) Banana's (A good amount of fibre, potassium, Magnesium and vitamin B6.)

Serving size: 1 person.

All you need for this recipe is:
1 1/2 banana's (2 depending on size of banana)
1 tea spoon baking powder
1 tea spoon cinnamon
2 Eggs
2 teaspoons coconut oil

Topping (optional):
mixed berries
Maple Syrup

Instructions:

To start of the process heat a pan with some coconut oil. While waiting for the pan and oil to heat, grab your bananas and peel team, placing them on a plate. Grab a fork and mash the bananas. Make sure you don't mash it into to small pieces or the pancake won't hold together. Next grab a bowl and place the mashed banana, cinnamon, baking powder all in one bowl. Grab the two eggs and crack them into the bowl with your banana mixture. Gently mix them together till it turns into a nice thick batter. Leave to stand for a couple of minutes.

Now that the pan and oil is heated up, bring the bowl with your pancake batter and slowly pour some batter into the pan. You can make pancakes as big as you want. Once you've used up all your batter and your pancakes are done. Place them one by one on your plate. to finish off you can garnish your pancakes with some mixed berries, maple syrup or anything you desire.

Let me know if you tried out this recipe. I'd love to see how your pancakes turned out! :)

Outfit of the week

Hello Everyone!

How are you all doing? In todays post I would like to celebrate with you all the new header that I have created for my blog! To be quite frank, my previous header I had spent ages trying to create something fancy looking by individually photoshopping some flowers on the header. Even with the amount of effort and time I had spent on it, it still looked incredibly hideous and busy. So I present to you my new header. I hope that this header at least is a little bit more tasteful for you guys. It's something I am at least a little bit proud of showcasing to you (I definitely lack the editing skills)

Anyway, back to the main point of this blog. With making a few changes along the way with my blog this month, I thought I might add a "weekly favourites" post. Showcasing my favourite things of that week. Now I know i'm being a little bit adventurous with that concept, but i'm willing to give it a try. Let me know if that is something you would like to see appear in the future.

Above for my weekly favourites is a dress from Zara (bought in Thailand) bought for $69.95. I love the florally pattern across the dress. It's of a light poly/cotton blend material and can easily be worn as an everyday casual dress with some nice sandals or if you want to make it a little bit more dressy you can easily pop on some loathers, heels or dress shoes.

The shoes are a very comfortable pair of leather loafers from Wittner shoes. They were a $120. I'm not entirely sure if they are still being sold as they are from the autumn winter collection, but if they do i'd definitely recommend buying a pair as comfortable everyday shoes.

The felt floppy hat is from Lauren Ashley. Bought for $30 its a really rich berry burgundy colour perfect accessory for keeping your face out of the sun and perfect for making your outfit a little more dressy.

Lastly for my favourites is my favourite perfume Daisy Dream from Marc Jacobs $90. A lovely florally/fruity fresh scent that can be worn all year along. For me this is the perfect scent for when you are going out or just a little fresh fragrance for when you go into work.

What kind of outfits have you been loving a lot lately? I'd love to know :)

Summer time

Nothing beats fresh flowers to brighten up your home. One of my favourite market finds are always the flowers. For me going into a florist is always a lovely little reminder of the time of year. A florally welcome to the different variety of colours and plants as the seasons change.

Of course now that the summer time is approaching buying a bunch of beautiful bright sunflowers, was definitely on my shopping. An instant reminder of the beautiful warm summer days/ nights to come and bringing some warmth and joy into my little humble abode.

Whats are some of your favourite flowers?

Until next time,

Nicole xo

Zara

With much anticipated wait, a Zara store has finally opened in the Perth suburbs, with a two storey Zara store soon to be followed in the Perth CBD. Previously I always had to admire and ogle at the clothes online, wishing I could get my hands on a certain piece. Or wait till my next planned europe trip. However finally with a lot of patience I no longer have to admire from afar. I can actually get my hands on them. What I love about Zara is that it's not extremely over priced for the quality of clothing they bring out. The best possible material is always chosen and the clothing last for a really good amount of time.

A couple of weeks back when I found out the store had opened I knew I had to immediately go and visit, even if it meant taking an hour and a  bit of a car journey to get there. (Waiting for the city store to open was just not on)

Much to my disappointment I couldn't really photograph the layout of the store or the types of clothing on the racks as of right now, due to the swarm of people in the shop. You literally had to squeeze your way through to get somewhere.
The Line for the changing rooms was also about a forty-five minute wait, but you know. It was all worth it. I gained some wonderful clothing items out of it, and it just comes to show that european clothing brand was a much needed addition to our retailers out there. There is going to be some competition going on for sure.

Alas, let me share with you some of the pieces I was able to snatch up.
I definitely cannot wait to come back again (maybe when the hype had died down a little)

What's in my bag

Hey guys,

Today has been one of those really rare days, where I have been super productive and ended up filming a video along with many other things. I haven't really had much inspiration for videos, but that fortunately hasn't stopped me from at least giving it a go. I'm still striving to get at least 2-3 video's up at least once a month.

So that leaves me with one question, what types of video's do you guys like to watch?
Would you guys like to see more hauls, DIY, vlogs or any other types of videos? Maybe even a
Q &A?  Let me know. I'm really interested in your feed back and criticism, which can only result into improvement right? any criticism is good criticism as they say, or did i just make that up?

Anyway, lets get to it and I hope you enjoy this weeks video!!

Addison and Steele

On the weekend my mum and I had a little mother daughter morning. For a while now, on our way to work we had been eyeing this cafe that had opened in North Perth, but we never really managed to peep into the little cafe on the corner. From outside the big open windows allows you to see into the little cafe. The exposed bricks big, exposed light bulb lighting I knew and a fridge full of yummy baked goods (to bad i am gluten free, sniffles).

So on a gloomy Saturday morning while my dad got called up for work, my mum and I decided to go out for breakfast and see what the fuss is all about.

When we walked in we were instantly greeted by one of the many friendly personnel working that morning. The cafe has a retro kind of London atmosphere to it, with the exposed light bulbs and the quirkiness of the top hat lights. It's very much a simplistic yet retro design mixed.

We were seated and given two menus, now unfortunately for because i'm coeliac they didn't really have much of a gluten free option to eat, however they did have a gluten free alternative for muesli and I ended up with a quinoa muesli fruit and yoghurt for breakfast, it was absolutely delicious. Besides muesli they also have a variety of bagels and toast available.

The menu isn't overly fancy or big, as the cafe specialises and is known for their coffee. Everyone working in that cafe also has to have gone through a barista course.

The food and coffee came out quickly and I do have to say the coffee tasted really delicious and the muesli was really nice and refreshing along side of it.

Before I forget and end my blog post here, for all you girls out there. The cafe only has guys working there and they aren't too sore on the eyes either. Who wouldn't want their breakfast with a good view??

What are some of your favourite cafes?

hey big spender

It's been a while, but after much convincing that I needed a wardrobe update (I don't think that really needed much convincing at all) I emptied half my bank account on some fancy new clothes and I couldn't be happier. I don't know if it's just my luck or I snoop around till I am 100% convinced that it's something I would definitely wear, but I never seem to be disappointed with my purchases on ASOS and all the clothes tend to fit like a gem. So I've never had to send anything back (yet. Fingers crossed).

Anyway I thought I'd share with you my joy of my new purchases and made a little haul video for you guys. I hope you enjoy it, and let me know what you guys think!!

pamper day

A couple of weeks back when I went to Europe I picked up a heap of face masks. I remember from
two years ago seeing the Nivea face masks in a drugstore in Holland and thought I might try them out. Ever since then I was hooked. Unfortunately my skin doesn't really cooperate with moisturisers. As soon as I put on a moisturiser my skin (especially my forehead) breaks out and becomes infected. Does anybody else have that problem?

To keep it hydrated I like to use moisturising face masks. So when I went on holidays back to Holland I bought them in bulk, because unfortunately they don't sell the Nivea face masks in Australia(at least that I know of.)

While having the face mask on I like to relax and drink a cup of tea and put some scented candles on, and maybe have a bit of chocolate. I mean why not, we are allowed to pamper ourselves once in a while!
While picking up the Nivea face masks I also found these face masks next to them. I have yet to try them out, but by the different scented names on them, i'm sure you couldn't go wrong!
Have a snapshot of my masked face.

What do you like to do for your pampering night?
